Landscape Connectivity

Stellenanangebot Postdoc in Birmensdorf | Schweiz

Stellenbeschreibung

The position is funded for 9 months. Part time employment is possible.

The project aims to investigate how in human-dominated landscapes we can enrich biodiversity. In a first step, we integrate the science of ecological assessment, urban blue-green infrastructure planning and spatial modelling to quantify structural and functional connectivity in Swiss lowland/urban landscapes. A key challenge will be the exploitation of machine learning to extract relevant spatial characteristics from remote sensing data. This highly interdisciplinary project is a collaboration between Eawag and WSL.

Your profile: You have experience with programming (Python, Julia, R) and strong GIS and spatial data management experience. German is a very strong asset as much of the data have local descriptors.

Eawag offers a unique research and working environment and is committed to promoting equal opportunities for women and men and to support the compatibility of family and work.
