Founded in 1881, Spelman College is a private four-year liberal arts college located in Atlanta, GA. The Department of Biology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin in August 2025. The department has a strong, proven reputation for educating and training women of African descent to excel in STEMfields. We seek an outstanding teacher/scholar dedicated to excellence in the area of cellular and molecular biology. An ideal candidate would demonstrate a history of innovative research and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Applicants are also expected to actively pursue an independently-funded research program and engage students in scholarly activity. The successful candidate will also be able to teach undergraduate introductory courses in cellular and/or molecular biology as well as contribute to curriculum development efforts by creating an advanced biology elective course related to their area of expertise (e.g. microbiology, immunology, genetics, and/or bioinformatics). The position also requires academic advising, mentoring research students, and providing service within the Department and College communities. Candidates with a demonstrated commitment to working with women and underrepresented minority students through teaching, mentoring, and research are especially encouraged to apply.

Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or related area.
