Description: The Synbreed Winter School 2012 provides an introduction to population genomics for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in animal and plant breeding. The course consists of a practical part with hands-on exercises guided by experienced Synbreed scientists and guest lecturers covering the frontiers of population genomics in animal and plant improvement.

Programme Overview:

Analysis of population structures
Coalescent theory and demography
Approximate Bayesian Computation (ABC)
Whole genome screen for selection signatures

Target Group and Requirements:

The course is directed towards PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in animal and plant breeding
Participants need a dual-core processor equipped laptop. Further details about technical requirements will be announced in due course.
