International Symposium on Iron Nutrition and Interactions in Plants

21st ISINIP

Düsseldorf, Deutschland: 08.07. – 12.07.2024
Wissenschaftliche Konferenz | Deutschland

The 21st International Symposium on Iron Nutrition and Interactions in Plants (ISINIP) is to take place in Düsseldorf from July 8th to 11th, 2024, with excursion on July 12th. Traditionally, this gathering brings together a community of dedicated researchers who share a common interest in understanding the mobilization, uptake, allocation, and utilization of iron, a crucial micronutrient for plants.

ISINIP 2024 aims to explore the biology of iron in areas spanning plant breeding, crop sciences, soil biology, microbial interactions, plant physiology, and plant molecular biology. By encompassing such diverse aspects, the symposium provides a comprehensive platform for exchanging knowledge and fostering collaboration among experts in these fields.

ISINIP 2024 will emphasize the importance of nutritional food security, recognizing that micronutrient supply plays a crucial role in the quality of food. Micronutrient deficiencies continue to pose a major barrier to quality nutrition and equality in many countries.

There will be a dedicated focus on environmental sustainability. The acquisition of iron in calcareous and alkaline soil environments presents unique challenges. With the added complexities brought about by climate change, the occurrence of such soil conditions is expected to intensify. ISINIP will serve as a platform for discussing strategies to tackle these challenges.

Additionally, ISINIP 2024 will place a significant emphasis on unraveling the intricate molecular mechanisms and regulatory networks that govern iron acquisition and allocation within plants. By exploring extensively these fundamental processes, we aim to establish a solid foundation for developing innovative strategies that can enhance both nutritional food security and sustainable land management.

Our goal is to attract a diverse and international audience of scientists, offering them valuable insights into iron interactions in plants. During the symposium, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in scientific presentations, both talks and posters.

We hope that attendees will enjoy the meeting and engage in fruitful discussions to contribute to advancements in plant iron research benefiting global agronomic and nutritional challenges.
